'Chief' Character Concept #2

I felt a redesign for the Chief character was in order as in hindsight; I'm not quite satisfied with the previous design perhaps feeling too comical. The new design hopefully rectifies this being less restrictive with the use of real world objects for more freedom to create a more interesting design.






He now adorns a battle body plate with shoulder guards refitted from scrap materials, as well as wielding a former garden tool re-purposed as an intimidating weapon. I kept the use of a cape aesthetic (perhaps once originally a curtain material) to maintain his higher sense of stature and social status, along with the boots despite being well worn and full of holes, as the surviving humans exist in a world where footwear has become a precious commodity.

'The Matriarch' Character Concept

For the female of the group, I imagined a matriarchal type woman who would lead in the spiritual ritual as shown by the soundscape.

New Audi A9 Concept Car

Audi has just released its latest concept design. It is known as the A9 concept and it is unlike anything we have seen in any production car to date. Audi plans to project its A9 concept at a higher standing than its current top dog, the A8. Audi predicts that this concept will be advanced enough to overwhelm first-class luxury models from competitors such as the Porsche Panamera, and the Lamborghini Estoque if ever it will be put into production.

The form and features of the 2010 Audi A9 Concept were motivated in part by the magnificent structural design of Santiago Calatrava’s architecture in The City of Arts and Sciences located in Valencia. Such inspiration can be seen in the smooth, sleek and flowing contours of the vehicle along with its futuristic structure. Calatrava’s constructions seem as if they were taken from centuries in the future, and Audi’s concept emulates the same ideals.

The windshield of this concept car is fully integrated into the roof, and is composed of material using nanotechnology. Note that this technology does not exist at this time, since it is designed to automatically adjust from clear to opaque, change color and repair damage. Changing colors to the preference of the driver is a feature also reserved for the body kit of the A9. This means that at the touch of a button, the car can change from white to black, to red, to blue, etc.

Propulsion for the A9 concept is achieved via a sophisticated fusion between electric-powered motors found in each of the four wheels of the vehicle, working in concurrence with an internal combustion engine using a renewable source of fuel. Once again, such technology does not exist as of yet, but the plans for this vehicle certainly sound fascinating.

According to the latest speculation, the new S2000 will be released for the 2010 model year and will be available with both a 2.4L four cylinder AND a 3.5L V6. Hrm...a V6 S2000 I mean "S3500"? Sounds a little strange to me.

The car is still very early in development so of course this speculation (and the rendering above) should be taken with a grain of salt, but is still interesting to think about what this car may turn out to be.

I remember hearing that next generation S2000 was to be scaled down in both size and price to compete more directly with the Mazda MX5. I'm not sure what happened to that plan. I thought it would have been cool to see a cheaper "mini-S2000" with a rear wheel drive application of Honda's wonderful K20 engine.

The new model will go into production this fall, and the first five units will be sold as limited "World Record Editions." The new Veyron 16.4 Super Sport comes with four enlarged turbochargers and bigger intercoolers that have been used to boost the power of the 16-cylinder engine to a total of 1200 HP, the chassis has been extensively redesigned to maintain safety at extreme speeds – thanks to a slightly raised main-spring travel, stronger stabilizers, and new shock absorbers with a complex architecture originally developed for racing cars. This gives noticeably more precise control of the wheels and the car as a whole. With lateral acceleration of up to 1.4 G and improved interaction between the tires and the intelligent all-wheel drive system, the Super Sport offers perfect handling and even more powerful acceleration of 1,500 NM on corner exits.

On the exterior the car gets expanded and reshaped front air intakes, a revised back with double diffuser, and a centrally arranged exhaust system.

Bridge Concept

The remnants of a bridge spanning across a lake. Was experimenting with a cooler palette with the piece, while giving a sort of mystical quality with fireflies dancing throughout the night. Once more, it suggests the deteriorating presence mankind has left in the land with nature reclaiming all in its wake.





This piece turned out quite differently than I originally intended with a dusty desert of a dried up lake below. I wasn't quite satisfied with the general composition and the direction the piece was taking at this early stage, so I repainted the piece with the results above.
